Jessica Ennis 'driven on by past disappointments'
27/01/2012
Heptathlete Jessica Ennis will be even more determined to win gold at the Olympics this year after only coming second in the world championships in Daegu last year, her coach has said.
Coach Toni Minichiello told the BBC: "She's really hungry. A lot of that is fuelled by what happened in Daegu and finishing second."
He added that with Ennis turning 26 this weekend and the demands of the event meaning that competing at the age of 30 can be too much, London may be "her only Olympics".
Ennis missed out on the Beijing Games four years ago after she broke a bone in her foot.
Fans enjoying hospitality packages at London 2012 will be hoping the Sheffield-born star can go one better than last year's disappointment in South Korea and finish on top of the podium.
With the event now six months away, this week saw the formal handover to Games organisers of the Athletes' Village.
