Johnno refuses to rule out England return for Steve Borthwick

Martin Johnson has refused to rule out the possibility of Steve Borthwick returning to England action in the Investec Internationals series.

The former captain was relegated to the England Saxons squad last month after missing out on this summer's tour to Australia with a knee injury, during which he was replaced as skipper by Lewis Moody.

Despite this setback, Johnson said that Borthwick's career with the national side is not over and that no-one in the 32-man Elite Player Squad could consider their position safe.

"It is very competitive. There is big pressure on guys. Anyone who thinks they are comfortable in the England 32 won't be there for very long," he said.

Borthwick will be hoping for a strong start to the season with club side Saracens if he is to feature in Johnno's plans for the Investec Internationals.

The four-match series kicks off on November 6th 2010 with a clash against New Zealand, followed by games against Australia, Samoa and South Africa.
