Jonathan Trott not resting on his laurels

07/09/2010

Jonathan Trott has vowed not to take his foot off the gas in the England v Pakistan ODI series.

England will take on the tourists in front of official cricket hospitality customers in the five-match campaign, which gets underway at the Riverside on Friday (September 10th 2010).

The batsman has enjoyed an impressive start to his ODI career, averaging 70.4 runs in his six games - a record that he is unwilling to let slide against Pakistan.

Speaking to the Coventry Telegraph, Trott said he is eager not to fall into the trap of feeling that he is guaranteed a place in the England side, as this could lead to complacency.

"I don't think that is healthy," the South Africa-born star commented. "It is important ... to look to keep improving my game and work on the areas here and there that probably do need a bit of attention."

Following the Riverside clash, the England v Pakistan ODI series will move on to Headingley, the Brit Insurance Oval, Lord's and The Rose Bowl.
