Jonny Wilkinson 'is the best fly-half in France'
30/09/2010
Frederic Michalak has given Jonny Wilkinson a ringing endorsement ahead of England's Investec Internationals campaign.
The man once branded by French rugby fans as the "anti-Wilkinson" declared that the Englishman, who plays for Toulon, has started the season in sparkling form.
"He's the best number ten in the French league, for sure," the 27-year-old Toulouse star remarked.
According to Michalak, Wilko's resurgence can be attributed to his decision to leave former side Newcastle Falcons and make the trip across the Channel.
The French international argued the pressure on Wilkinson was too great in England and that things are far easier for him now that he plies his trade on the Cote d'Azur.
Despite Michalak's praise, the Toulon man has a fight on his hands to reclaim his number ten shirt for England ahead of the Investec Internationals, which kick off on November 6th 2010 against New Zealand.
Leicester Tigers star Toby Flood - who played alongside Wilko at Newcastle - is the position's current incumbent.
