Kevin Pietersen misses out on Twenty20 place
01/09/2010
Fans with Twenty20 tickets for the forthcoming England v Pakistan series will not have the opportunity to see Kevin Pietersen in action.
The star batsman has been omitted from England's one-day squad by the selectors and will instead be loaned to Surrey from his previous county side Hampshire at the request of the England and Wales Cricket Board and the England team management.
National selector Geoff Miller said he believes the South Africa-born player will benefit from missing out on the chance to play in front of fans with Twenty20 tickets against Pakistan.
"We feel that his game would be best served by getting as much cricket under his belt as possible ... [and] the remainder of the county season is an ideal opportunity to do just that," he explained.
The first game in the two-match Twenty20 series is due to take place at the SWALEC Stadium in Cardiff this Sunday (September 5th 2010), with the same venue being used for the second fixture next Tuesday.
