Kevin Pietersen to make Surrey Lions debut today
01/09/2010
Kevin Pietersen is gearing up to make his debut for Surrey Lions in front of holders of Brit Insurance Oval cricket tickets.
The England star has been omitted from the national one-day side for the forthcoming series with Pakistan and a loan deal between Surrey and Pietersen's previous county Hampshire has swiftly been arranged.
He will make his first appearance for his new side in the Lions' home Clydesdale Bank 40 encounter with Worcestershire Royals today (September 1st 2010), which is set to spark a surge in demand for Brit Insurance Oval cricket tickets.
The match is due to get underway at 15:40 BST and will run until around 21:30.
Professional cricket manager at Surrey Chris Adams expressed excitement at the acquisition, stating: "I have no doubt that [Pietersen] will have a positive influence both on and off the pitch and we welcome him to the club."
The 30-year-old batsman has amassed 6,777 runs during his 215-game List A career at an average of 41.32 and has a top score of 147.
