Lee Westwood chasing US Open success

15/06/2010

Lee Westwood has said he is confident of winning a Major tournament before he has the chance to play in front of fans with Ryder Cup hospitality tickets.

The world number three will be teeing off at the US Open at Pebble Beach this week and has said he is feeling positive coming off the back of a win at the St Jude Classic in Memphis.

With that success still fresh in his memory, Westwood revealed he hopes to make the most of the event in California, a state in which he has traditionally performed strongly.

"I usually seem to play well on the West Coast," he pointed out. "When I looked at the four Major venues, I felt Pebble Beach would offer me my best chance this year of winning one."

Westwood is just one of the English players hoping to star in front of fans with Ryder Cup hospitality tickets later this year, alongside the likes of Ian Poulter, Paul Casey and Luke Donald.
