Lee Westwood has assured European fans with Ryder Cup packages he is confident of being fit to play in the clash with the US next month.
The Englishman has not played any competitive golf since pulling out of the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational at the start of August 2010 after rupturing a calf muscle.
Since then, the world number three has been battling to recover in time to take to the course in front of Ryder Cup packages customers between October 1st and 3rd.
In an interview with the Golf Channel, Westwood revealed he is in good enough shape to play in all five matches at the contest.
"I haven't had any pain for three weeks. I've made great progress," the 37-year-old remarked. "I've been working with my coach, Pete Cowen, and he says I'm swinging it better than I was before."
Westwood has played in 29 matches during his six Ryder Cup appearances, amassing 14 victories and five halves.
