Those enjoying hospitality packages at Lord's next summer for the international games played by England against the West Indies, South Africa and Australia may wish to take a camera to record the view - because it will gradually change over the next few years.

Members of the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) committee have voted for a gradual redevelopment of the famous venue, which will see the ground developed on a stand-by-stand basis.

This action will take place only on the MCC's freehold land and is subject to approval by the wider MCC membership and Westminster City Council.

Discussing the MCC's philosophy regarding the development of the ground, the club's chairman Oliver Stocken said: "The Club has always prioritised the fundamental objective of maintaining and enhancing the reputation of Lord's as the pre-eminent cricket ground in the world and the global home of cricket."

Next summer will see England play Test matches at Lords against the West Indies and South Africa, while the ground will also see one-day international action and be used as a venue for archery in the Olympic Games.
