22/03/2010
Ian Bell may have put himself back in contention to appear in front of fans with England v PakistanBrit Oval hospitality tickets after amassing his tenth Test century.
The middle-order batsman has often been criticised for failing to make big scores after getting off to a good start.
This view has been borne out by the fact that until now, Bell had never made the first hundred of an innings for England, only reaching three figures after another top order batsman had already got to the milestone.
Facing off against Bangladesh, Bell struck 139 to help England reach a slender 21-run lead, closing out day three at 440 for eight.
He will hope that his exploits will put him firmly in the mind of coach Andy Flower to feature in front of enthusiasts with England v PakistanBrit Oval hospitality tickets when the match gets underway on August 18th 2010.
Bell was quoted by the Telegraph as saying: "It was nice to make a contribution when we needed it and get us into a position to put some pressure on Bangladesh."
