Cheltenham Festival corporate events news: Sublimity ruled out of Champion Hurdle

08/03/2010

Horseracing fans attending Cheltenham Festival corporate events will not be able to see Sublimity continue his good form this season.

The horse had been set to run in the Champion Hurdle at the Cotswolds event - a race which he won three years ago - but will be forced out of the 2010 festival with a leg injury.

Robbie Hennessy, his trainer, said that Sublimity has a suspensory injury, but that it was unclear how it had been sustained.

"It could have been rolling around in his box, getting cast or in a routine gallop," he explained.

This comes as particularly bad news given the horse's success in recent times, including runner-up finishes at both Leopardstown and Newcastle towards the end of last year.

Despite this, Hennessy refused to be too downbeat about Sublimity's inability to compete in front of fans attending Cheltenham Festival corporate events.

"It's just one of those things. He could be sound again in two weeks' time but he just needs the time off as he could end up lame again," he said.
