World Cup 2010 news: James Milner 'could be England's star player'
23/03/2010
James Milner has the ability to become the star of England's World Cup 2010 campaign, according to Aston Villa club captain Stiliyan Petrov.
The ex-Newcastle and Leeds player's versatility could make him an essential part of England coach Fabio Capello's plans for the tournament, with Petrov pointing out that Milner has proved adept at playing both out wide and in the centre.
Petrov went on to highlight the threat which Milner poses to the opposition from midfield - something which Capello will hope he can replicate if he is called upon for World Cup 2010.
"He has scored ten goals from midfield, which is really good," Petrov said. "He has been brilliant - and if he continues to progress like that, he will be the star of the World Cup."
Milner has so far amassed seven caps for the Three Lions since making his debut from the subs' bench in last year's friendly against Holland, which finished as a 2-2 draw.
