Marcus Trescothick backs Craig Kieswetter for Test place
12/08/2010
Marcus Trescothick believes fans with England cricket tickets could see Craig Kieswetter in the Test side before too long.
The Somerset star is currently the first-choice wicketkeeper in limited overs cricket, but has failed to dislodge current incumbent Matt Prior in the longest form of the game.
Prior has been under pressure ever since he was first picked for the Test side back in 2007, but has enjoyed a good summer with the bat, including an unbeaten century against Pakistan at Trent Bridge.
Despite this, former England opener Trescothick is confident that his Somerset team-mate Kieswetter can make himself the first choice in Tests watched by fans with England cricket tickets.
"I've no doubt he can push Matt Prior," Tresco was quoted by the Metro as saying. "Everyone goes through rough patches and Craig will get used to the pressure and is still learning for England."
England are 2-0 up in their current Test series against Pakistan, with the next fixture set to get underway at the Brit Insurance Oval on August 18th 2010.
