Maria Sharapova is a hot favourite to finally win the French Open after defeating Petra Kvitova in the semi-finals at Roland Garros.

The Russian, who has won the other three grand slams, won 6-3, 6-3 and will face 21st seed Sara Errani in the final on Saturday (June 10th).

She remarked: "It's the third time I've been in a semi-final here, I've dreamed of reaching the final and finally I have that opportunity."

Sharapova's performance has ensured she will top the women's rankings when they are updated after the tournament and fans booking Wimbledon hospitality may be keen to see her in action at SW19, particularly after she gained revenge for her loss in the final to Kvitova last year.

The Russian was Wimbledon champion in 2004 when she beat Serena Williams 6-1, 6-4 in the final, while she won the US Open in 2006 and the Australian Open in 2008.
