Mo Farah 'needs invincible aura'
01/02/2012
Mo Farah needs to make himself seem unbeatable to demoralise his Olympic rivals, Steve Cram has said.
Commenting in his BBC Sport column, former middle distance runner Cram said of Farah: "He's got to build and retain a sense of invincibility - not just to please us watching but to make sure his opponents don't see any chinks in his armour."
Farah became 5,000m world champion last year and European indoor 3,000m champion, which may encourage those enjoying Olympic hospitality packages in London to be optimistic about his chances of winning gold.
Cram suggested the sense of expectation around Farah is "huge", which is why he needs to live up to it in the lead-up to the Olympics.
Other British athletes of whom gold-winning performances will be expected include heptathlete Jessica Ennis.
Her coach Toni Minichiello recently told the BBC he felt she was particularly "hungry" to win after the disappointment of coming second in last year's World Campionships.
