Monty apologises in advance to players who miss the Ryder Cup cut

08/07/2010

Colin Montgomerie has issued an early apology to the players who will miss out on the chance to represent Europe in front of people with Ryder Cup corporate tickets

A whole host of big-name European golfers are currently battling it out on the fringes of Monty's Ryder Cup squad, including the likes of Justin Rose, Padraig Harrington and Paul Casey.

Some, such as Darren Clarke, have already effectively thrown in the towel and admitted there is little or no chance of them taking on the US in front of people with Ryder Cup corporate tickets

Monty has said the selection headache he is facing over which players to give a wildcard place to is worse than it has ever been before.

"I unfortunately am going to have to leave out some very, very good players," the 47-year-old admitted. "I apologise for the fact, but I've got to because of the strength and depth that we have."
