Monty confident Padraig Harrington will make Ryder Cup

European captain Colin Montgomerie spoke yesterday (July 13th) of his confidence that Padraig Harrington will play his way into his Ryder Cup team over the coming months.

But the two-time Open champion has been handed a boost by Montgomerie who said that the 38-year-old remains firmly in his thoughts for selection.
However, Harrington will have to improve his recent form if he wants to take part in the three-day event, which runs in Wales from October 1st to 3rd.
"The Ryder Cup situation gets more interesting by the week," said Montgomerie.
"I've had a chat with Padraig just now and he knows exactly what he has to do."
Montgomerie added that he remained convinced that the Irishman will pull through as he is not overly concerned about his form.
