Olympic stadium has 16 bidders
02/02/2012
There are 16 interested parties keen on becoming the tenants of the London Olympic stadium after the Games, the Olympic Legacy Company (OLC) has revealed.
A deadline for bids has now passed and the company revealed the number of bidders, which is believed to include local football side West Ham United.
Fans of athletics enjoying hospitality packages during the event may be delighted that one of the stipulations remains the continued use of the stadium for athletics, which will include the 2017 World Athletics Championships.
Bids may cover leases of between five and 99 years, with the OLC saying it hopes to name a preferred bidder by May.
Athletes who may make history for Britain on the track include Mo Farah, who won the 5,000 metres World Championship gold last year.
Commenting in his new BBC Sport column, former athlete Steve Cram said Farah's target between now and the Games is to "build and retain a sense of invincibility" to dishearten his rivals.
