Arsenal youngster Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has been tipped by Theo Walcott to follow in his footsteps and make an impact on the international scene.

Like Walcott, Oxlade-Chamberlain joined the Gunners as a teenager from Southampton, with his performances since arriving last summer being enough to convince his team-mate that he can handle the step up from under-21 level to full international stardom.

"Alex has definitely got the potential to be there [at Euro 2012]," Walcott told the Arsenal club website, contrasting his own inexperience when selected for England's 2006 World Cup squad with Oxlade-Chamberlain's greater exposure to top class football, including the Champions League.

Those enjoying Premier League hospitality at Arsenal home games may enjoy seeing how Oxlade-Chamberlain progresses over the course of this season.

Walcott added that the youngster "knows he has a lot to learn but he is showing very good signs at this moment in time".

Theo Walcott was omitted from the England World Cup squad last year, despite his impact on the qualifying tournament, which included a hat-trick in a 4-1 win in Croatia.
