Padraig Harrington admits his Ryder Cup chances are 'precarious'

Padraig Harrington has admitted his chances of appearing at Celtic Manor in front of fans with Ryder Cup corporate tickets

The Irishman is currently three places away from automatic qualification for Colin Montgomerie's team to take on the US at the Welsh course in October.

Although Harrington is intending to play in around half of the eight qualifying events which are taking place between now and the start of the contest, he admitted he could still be hard pushed to make it into the squad.

"I do need a couple of performances in those four or five events," the 38-year-old was quoted by the Belfast Telegraph as saying. "It's a precarious position because so many good players aren't in the team."
