Padraig Harrington 'out to improve Ryder Cup record'

Irish golfer Padraig Harrington will need to improve his Ryder Cup record if he is to justify skipper Colin Montgomerie's controversial decision to include him in the European squad, according to fellow star Darren Clarke.
The two-time major winner will be under particular pressure to deliver when he steps out in front of spectators with Ryder Cup packages at Celtic Manor in October, but Clarke believes the questions surrounding his selection could spur him on.
"Padraig's record in the last two Ryder Cups isn't good, but that is something he is aware of and he'll be fired up to contribute a lot more in terms of points," he said.
Harrington got the nod ahead of Englishmen Paul Casey and Justin Rose, much to the chagrin of some observers following the former's strong showing at last month's British Open.
Casey admitted in a press conference that he was disappointed at his failure to make the squad, but claimed the European side still contains "unbelievable" talent.
