Paul Collingwood dropped from England one-day squad

Kia Oval hospitality guests with tickets to see England take on Sri Lanka this month will undoubtedly be keen to watch some of their favourite players in action.

However, they will not catch former captain Paul Collingwood on June 28th at the NatWest Series One Day International, as he has been dropped from the squad.

National selector Geoff Miller explained that although the sportsman has been an "inspirational limited overs cricketer" in recent years, his form has suffered.

As a result, the decision was made to leave him out of the squad.

Miller added that Collingwood "has always brought a great deal to the England team and we know he'll be working as hard as ever to reach peak form and fitness".

He will also miss the NatWest International Twenty20 fixture against Sri Lanka in Bristol on June 25th.

Opening batsman Alastair Cook, who was England's top run scorer in their recent Ashes win over Australia, has been named as captain for the NatWest Series match.
