All-rounder Paul Collingwood has said he has not given up hope of representing England again in one-day international cricket, something those enjoying hospitality packages at Edgbaston next summer may enjoy seeing happen.

The Durham Dynamos star retired from Test cricket at the end of the Ashes Series in Australia earlier this year and has not played for his country in the shorter forms of the game since the World Cup.

But he told the England and Wales Cricket Board website his upcoming winter performances for Perth Scorchers in the Big Bash League - Australia's version of the IPL - could help him force his way back into the reckoning.

"I've retired from playing Test cricket for England but I still have the ambitions to play one-day and Twenty20 cricket for my country," he confirmed, stating that despite being 35 he believes he still has much to offer.

Edgbaston will host a one-day international between England and Australia, as well as a T20 game involving South Africa.

Collingwood's decision to quit Test cricket came after he was one of the rare failures with the bat in the Ashes, with a highest score of only 42.
