Paul McGinley still chasing Ryder Cup spot

30/06/2010

Paul McGinley has said there is still a chance of him appearing in front of fans with Ryder Cup corporate tickets

The Irish golfer, who was a key part of three successive European victories over their rivals from the US, played no part in the 2008 Ryder Cup defeat in Kentucky.

However, the 43-year-old has expressed his desire to take on the Americans in front of people with Ryder Cup corporate tickets

Speaking to the Irish Times, McGinley said: "I certainly haven't given up hope. It is a long shot but I am not going to give up hope."

He went on to state that "all the indications" suggest European captain Colin Montgomerie will ask him to be vice captain if he does not make the playing squad.

"We'll address that issue when it arises," he commented.

McGinley is currently lying in 76th place in the European points list which determines Ryder Cup selection.
