Australian cricketer Phil Hughes may be out of next summer's one-day series against England after signing a contract to play for Worcestershire.

The opening batsman, who enjoyed a previous stint with Middlesex in 2009, will not play the full season, but his arrival in June comes a month before his countrymen take on England in five limited-over games.

While Hughes may not be there, fans wishing to enjoy corporate hospitality while watching the players who are on show might like to book tickets for the game at Edgbaston.

Meanwhile, Hughes said he expected his game will develop more as a result of his time at New Road, remarking: "My previous stint in England helped my batting enormously and I have high expectations that spending the 2012 Australian winter in the UK will do the same."

The news may cheer the Australian after he and his team-mates tasted defeat in the second Test in Hobart against New Zealand, where the kiwis won a low-scoring game by seven runs to tie the series 1-1.
