West Indian cricketer Ramnaresh Sarwan is to become Leicestershire's overseas player for 2012, the club has announced.

Leicestershire chief executive Mike Siddall said: "He has an impressive Test record and his availability to play all forms of the game for us during the 2012 season is an added bonus."

The 31-year-old averages over 40 in both Test and one-day international cricket and his highest Test score of 291 was against England in 2009.

Sarwan has been lined up for the entire season, subject to a work permit and clearance from the West Indies board, which, if given, will suggest he will not be part of the Caribbean side touring England this summer.

Fans living in the midlands can enjoy hospitality packages while watching the West Indies take on England when the Edgbaston Test takes place between June 7th and 11th.

The last time the Caribbean side won a Test match in England - in 2000 - Edgbaston was the venue.

However, England went on to win that series 3-1.
