Rugged Cross warms up for the Epsom Derby

Rugged Cross warmed up for the highly anticipated Epsom Derby Festival by finishing third in the poptelecom.co.uk Fairway Stakes at Newmarket on Saturday (May 19th).
It was the first outing of the season for the horse and trainer Henry Candy was happy with the performance.
The strong showing was enough for Mr Candy to confirm Rugged Cross' involvement in the famous Investec Derby on June 2nd.
"He will run (in the Derby) and he won't have to do a lot of work after that, as that was a pretty serious bit of exercise," the trainer said.
Rugged Cross was beaten by Thought Worthy and Noble Mission at Newmarket - both of whom are also expected to line up in the Epsom showpiece in two weeks' time.
The Derby is undoubtedly one of the highlights of the flat racing season and people who have booked corporate hospitality at this year's event can expect another thrilling race.
Although Camelot is the clear favourite among the bookmakers at the moment, race goers can get odds of as much as 50/1 if they fancy a flutter on Rugged Cross.
