Ryder Cup corporate tickets: Monty to discuss tour tactics with Nick Faldo

01/06/2010

Colin Montgomerie has told fans with Ryder Cup corporate tickets he intends to canvass the opinions of former captains ahead of this year's event.

The veteran golfer will lead the 2010 campaign against the US, which will get underway at the Celtic Manor Resort in Newport on October 1st.

Monty has famously had his differences with one of the former captains, Nick Faldo, who omitted the Scotsman from the side which were destroyed by their American opponents back in 2008.

But despite this ill feeling and the scale of the defeat which Faldo suffered as leader of the Europeans, Montgomerie told the Sunday Mail the 52-year-old still has a part to play ahead of this year's tour.

"If he can sit down with me and we can talk openly and honestly about what he'd have done different in hindsight, we can learn from that," he explained.

Jim McKenzie, director of golf courses and estates management at the Celtic Manor Resort, recently reassured fans with Ryder Cup corporate tickets that the course should be in pristine condition for the event, despite the cold snap earlier this year.
