Ryder Cup corporate tickets news: Wood not counting on selection

09/06/2010

Chris Wood has said he is not counting on being chosen to play for Europe in front of people with Ryder Cup corporate tickets.

The 22-year-old Bristolian found himself among the title contenders at last weekend's Wales Open having posted a first-round score of 65.

However, the youngster fell away badly as the tournament progressed, striking a disappointing 76 in the second round after dropping five shots in the final six holes.

Despite this setback, Wood has made an encouraging start to 2010 and could be in the running for a wildcard selection to compete against the US in front of people with Ryder Cup corporate tickets between October 1st and 3rd.

But speaking to BBC Radio Bristol, he revealed that the tournament is at the back of his mind.

Instead, he stated: "I'm just looking to establish myself as one of the better players."

Graeme McDowell of Northern Ireland went on to win the Wales Open, finishing 15 under par after shooting a final round of 63.
