Salman Butt: England are better than Australia

Salman Butt believes England are a tougher opponent to face in matches watched by fans with Test match tickets than Australia.

Andrew Strauss' England side are currently down in fifth in the ICC's world Test rankings, two positions below the Baggy Greens but one place ahead of Butt's sixth-placed Pakistan team.

While the official standings tell a different story, the Pakistan captain said he feels England are the harder outfit to take on in front of their own fans with Test match tickets.

Speaking to the News, Butt claimed the home side are particularly adept at coping with English conditions.

"English batsmen know well the demands of these wickets," he told the newspaper during a practice session in Leicestershire. "They try to give bowlers minimum chances while playing within their limitations."

Pakistan and England will go head to head in Nottingham tomorrow (July 29th 2010) in the first of a four-match Test series.

The tourists' recent two-game Test contest with Australia - also staged in England - ended in a 1-1 draw.
