Scott Carson rules out his FIFA World Cup chances
29/03/2010
Scott Carson believes there is no chance of him winning a place in England's FIFA World Cup squad.
The West Bromwich Albion goalkeeper has been in fine form for much of the season and produced a string of good saves to keep his side in the match during their 1-1 draw with Reading on Saturday (March 27th 2010).
But despite this, Carson conceded that he is very unlikely to be a part of England coach Fabio Capello's FIFA World Cup plans because he is not playing Premier League football.
Instead, the former Liverpool stopper said Robert Green is still the man most likely to start between the sticks in South Africa this summer.
Carson, at 24, is still young in goalkeeping terms and believes he has plenty of time to represent England at future tournaments.
"Hopefully I have got another ten or 15 years and some more World Cups [to come]," he said.
The keeper's England debut came in a friendly against Austria back in 2007, but he was made a scapegoat after his first competitive start in the 3-2 defeat by Croatia the following week.
