Serena Williams upset with court allocation

Wimbledon hospitality guests with tickets for Centre Court may have been surprised not to see defending champion Serena Williams play on the main stage yesterday (June 23rd) and, if so, it seems they were not the only ones.

The American, who has won the tournament at SW19 four times, was assigned to Court Two for her second round match against Romania's Simona Halep, which she won 3-6 6-2 6-1, but the seventh seed expressed her disappointment at the decision.

She pointed out the that the top men's players have never been off the two main show courts and said she was puzzled by the All England Club's choices.

"They like to put us on Court Two, me and Venus, for whatever reason. I haven't figured it out yet. Maybe one day we'll figure it out. I don't know," Williams stated.

This year's competition is Serena Williams' first Grand Slam event since Wimbledon in 2010, after she spent most of the past year on the sidelines through injury and illness.
