Shahid Afridi not planning to quit ODI captaincy
06/08/2010
Shahid Afridi has said he is willing and ready to play in the forthcoming England v Pakistan ODI series.
The two sides will contest five 50-over matches at the end of the current Test series, with the first game set to get underway in Cardiff on September 5th 2010.
Speculation had been rife that Afridi, who recently quit the Test captaincy, was also considering quitting the role for limited overs cricket.
However, he revealed in an interview with local newspaper Dawn that he has no intention of giving up the leadership for the England v Pakistan ODI clashes, stating: "It's all speculation."
Afridi, who has earned the nickname Boom Boom thanks to his explosive batting style, added: "I am not bothered about the captaincy. If they select me as a player I am ready to serve Pakistan."
The all-rounder has made 296 ODI appearances for his country, during which time he has taken 278 wickets and scored 6,222 runs.
