30/03/2010

James Milner will be counting down the days to the South Africa World Cup after Fabio Capello all-but confirmed the midfielder will be a part of his plans for the tournament.

The Aston Villa midfielder has had an impressive campaign, helping his side maintain the battle to play European football next season by chipping in with five Premier League goals in 30 appearances.

One person to have noticed Milner's performances is England coach Capello, who suggested the 24-year-old could have an important role to play at the South Africa World Cup this summer.

In an interview with Spain's Gol Television, the Three Lions boss said: "This season the player who has improved most has been Milner. He's played three or four games for us and forms part of the national team."

Capello went on to praise the maturity and goalscoring ability shown by Wayne Rooney so far this season, adding that the Manchester United striker has the strength of a bull.
