Steven Davies gets the nod for ODI squad

01/09/2010

Steven Davies is the latest player to stake a claim on the role of wicketkeeper in England matches watched by people with ODI tickets.

The Surrey ace has been called into the 50-over squad in place of South Africa-born Craig Kieswetter, who faced a torrid time during England's recent one-day series with Australia.

Once again, Matt Prior - the man who kept wicket for the national side before Kieswetter's selection - has also missed out on the opportunity to play in front of fans with England ODI tickets.

Commenting on the decision to give the Surrey star his chance behind the stumps, national selector Geoff Miller explained: "Steven Davies has had an excellent year for Surrey this season and has earned his chance to take on the role as wicketkeeper in England's limited-overs set up."

The first match of the England v Pakistan ODI series takes place in Durham on September 10th 2010, followed by trips to Headingley, the Brit Insurance Oval, Lord's and The Rose Bowl.
