Strauss misses out on half century

Andrew Strauss missed out on a half century as Middlesex's County Championship game against Worcestershire at Lord's finally got under way following a first-day wash-out.
The England Test captain was keen to get some runs under his belt at a venue where fans will be enjoying corporate hospitality while watching England play the West Indies later this month.
However, having put on 80 for the first wicket with Sam Robson, Strauss fell for 49.
The knock was his first substantial score since the first innings of last month's Colombo Test match, when he made 61.
Since then, Strauss was close to making a hat-trick of ducks, falling without scoring in the second innings in Sri Lanka and then against Graham Onions of Durham in his first county game back, before being dropped off his first ball in the second innings and eventually making six.
The opener's Test debut came at Lord's in 2004 and was more successful, with scores of 112 and 83 against New Zealand.
