Team Europe backed for Ryder Cup success

Sports fans taking advantage of Ryder Cup packages could see Colin Montgomerie's European squad rise above the US team, who are finding it difficult to select quality players.
According to ESPN.co.uk, Montgomerie has 11 out of the world's top 20 to take to the competition in October, while the US leader Corey Pavin is struggling with inexperienced golfers and some off-form veterans.
The website suggested that Jeff Overton crumbled under pressure at the Greenbrier Classic recently, which does not bode well if the sportsman is to perform well in front of fans with Ryder Cup packages.
Several of the US players are too young to have experienced the tournament before, which could play to Europe's advantage.
The site added: "As things stand, the European team towers over their USA rivals in terms of experience, form and overall quality."
British golfer Ross Fisher recently claimed that he has his sights set on a first appearance in the Ryder Cup this year thanks to a win at the Irish Open.
