Test match tickets news: England name Australian as bowling coach
09/04/2010
England's bowling attack for their future performances to fans with Test match tickets will be masterminded by an Australian.
David Saker, the current assistant coach of state side Victoria, has been chosen by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) as Ottis Gibson's successor to the position of bowling coach.
The ECB has been searching for a replacement after Gibson left the role to take charge of the West Indies earlier this year.
Saker, who has never represented his country but bowled for Victoria in his playing days, becomes the latest Australian to coach England's attack, following Troy Cooley's spell in the role.
He is expected to join the England set-up ahead of next month's World Twenty20 series, which means he should be in the role ahead of this summer's clashes against Pakistan in front of fans with Test match tickets.
"I've long held ambitions of coaching at international level so the prospect of working with England is something I'm very much looking forward to," Saker said of his appointment.
