Test match tickets news: Eoin Morgan makes 12-man first Test squad

24/05/2010

Eoin Morgan's chances of playing in front of fans with Test match tickets have been given a boost by his inclusion in the 12-man squad for the first game in the Bangladesh series.

England have chosen to opt for a blend of experience and new faces for the team to face Shakib Al Hasan's men, a match which gets underway at Lord's on Thursday (May 27th 2010).

Paul Collingwood and Stuart Broad, both of whom proved integral in the recent World Twenty20 success, have been rested for the opener, while Matt Prior has retained his Test place over the attacking Craig Kieswetter.

Despite the fact that Morgan has not played in front of fans with Test match tickets before, England captain Andrew Strauss backed the Irish-born star to succeed if he makes the 11.

"Eoin has demonstrated time and again that he is capable of playing on the big stage," said Strauss. "He has a calm head in pressure situations."

Morgan last week expressed confidence that he will be able to bring his impressive limited-overs form into the five-day game, telling Press Association Sport: "I'm capable of playing Test cricket."
