Test match tickets news: Kieswetter after Prior's spot

11/06/2010

Craig Kieswetter is targeting Matt Prior's place in the England side for matches watched by fans with Test match tickets.

The South Africa-born wicketkeeper has already taken Prior's berth in one-day cricket and is now eyeing a place behind the stumps in the longest form of the game.

Although Kieswetter's flamboyant performances with the bat have impressed pundits and fans alike, his critics have often said that Prior is a more effective glovesman - a claim which the Somerset star refutes.

"I wouldn't say Matt is a better wicketkeeper than me," he was quoted by the Sun as saying. "He has probably been a bit more consistent than I have."

He went on to state that he would "love" to play against Australia in matches watched by people with Test match tickets.

However, Kieswetter may have his work cut out to oust Prior from the five-day team after the Sussex man enjoyed a decent series against Bangladesh, including an impressive knock of 93 in the first innings at Old Trafford.
