Test match tickets news: Sidebottom to replace injured Bresnan in second Test
01/06/2010
Ryan Sidebottom has been handed the chance to play in front of fans with Test match tickets following the injury of Tim Bresnan.
The Nottinghamshire left-arm seamer has won a recall to the Test side having last appeared in the drawn series in South Africa earlier this year.
He will fill in for all-rounder Bresnan - who has picked up a stress fracture in his left foot - in the second Test against Bangladesh at Old Trafford, which gets underway on Friday (June 4th 2010).
Geoff Miller, England's head of selectors, said Bresnan's misfortune will give Sidebottom an opportunity to stake a place in the team for future games watched by people with Test match tickets.
"It's very unfortunate that Tim Bresnan will miss the second Test through injury as his bowling benefitted from five days of Test cricket during the Lord's Test," Miller added.
Sidebottom last played for England in the final of the World Twenty20 against Australia last month, during which he helped his side to success by picking up the wickets of Brad Haddin and Shane Watson.
