Toby Flood has been recalled to the England rugby team to play the second Test against South Africa in Johannesburg.

Coach Stuart Lancaster has picked Flood as a replacement for Owen Farrell in the backs as the side look to rebound from their defeat in Durban.

It is among five changes to the team, with Manu Tuillagi coming into midfield alongside debutant Jonathan Joseph.

Lancaster denied claims the changes were a "radical" shake-up of the side, noting widespread changes were made to the Six Nations team in the wake of last year's Rugby World Cup.

He said: "Opportunities have been presented due to injury. We have to learn about the players and see if they can step up to the highest level."

Fans enjoying hospitality packages at the QBE Internationals at Twickenham this autumn may see more new caps and England continue to seek the best combination for the future.

South African coach Heyneke Meyer has said he expects England to improve from Durban and said his side must "lift our intensity" to win again.
