Twenty20 tickets news: IPL has improved my game, says Ravi Bopara

26/04/2010

Ravi Bopara has said his time in the Indian Premier League (IPL) will make him a better player in future England matches watched by fans with Twenty20 tickets.

The batsman enjoyed an impressive second season with King's XI Punjab, including a spectacular 84 in the side's victory over Kevin Pietersen's Royal Challengers Bangalore last week.

Bopara revealed that prior to heading out to the IPL, he viewed the tournament as a "shop window" to prove to the England selectors that he should represent his country in front of fans with Twenty20 tickets in the future.

Having also spent time playing the shortest form of the game in New Zealand for Auckland, the Essex star feels he is now a stronger player.

Speaking to Press Association Sport, Bopara said: "I don't think we play enough Twenty20 cricket as English cricketers, so for me the IPL has been a brilliant experience."

He will hope to carry his IPL form into the World Twenty20 in the West Indies and England's two-match series with Pakistan, which starts on September 5th 2010.
