Twenty20 tickets news: Surrey Lions in discussion with Brian Lara
16/04/2010
Surrey Lions have confirmed they are keen to tempt Brian Lara out of retirement to play in front of fans with Twenty20 tickets.
The West Indies legend holds the record for the highest ever score in a Test match innings when he struck 400 not out against England in Antigua back in 2004, surpassing previous efforts from the likes of Matthew Hayden and Sir Garfield Sobers.
Despite not playing a competitive match for two years, Lara has been in practice with Surrey this week and the county have said they are keen for him to play in front of fans with Twenty20 tickets this season.
The Lions revealed: "We have been in discussion with Brian regarding his possible involvement with the club.
"However, we have no further comment to make at this stage."
The Trinidadian retired from Test match cricket with an average of 52.88. His final appearance in the five-day form of the game came against Pakistan in 2006, when he was dismissed for an ignominious two-ball duck in the first innings.
