Twickenham tickets news: Iain Balshaw hopeful of England recall
24/05/2010
Iain Balshaw has expressed his desire to get back in the England team for future matches watched by fans with Twickenham tickets.
The Biarritz full-back, whose side were beaten 21-19 in the final of the Heineken Cup at the weekend by Toulouse, has not represented his country for more than two years.
Having been omitted from England manager Martin Johnson's squad to tour New Zealand and Australia this summer, 31-year-old Balshaw's chances of playing in international matches watched by fans with Twickenham tickets appear to be running out.
But despite this, the former Gloucester utility back revealed he still harbours ambitions of overtaking the likes of Delon Armitage and Ben Foden and reclaiming the number 15 shirt.
"Obviously, you always want to play for your country and I am no different," Balshaw said after the Heineken Cup defeat.
When asked if he is planning to extend his contract with Biarritz, which currently has a year to left to run, he added: "It's up to my wife."
