Twickenham voted one of UK's best venues
18/11/2011
Twickenham is one of the best event venues in Britain, a new poll has found.
Event Magazine's survey to find the top 20 places to stage an event has seen England's rugby headquarters voted into fourth spot, ahead of locations such as Somerset House, the Royal Albert Hall, the Saatchi Gallery and the Business Design Centre.
Lords Cricket Ground also made the elite list, coming in at 12th.
Factors such as the number of events held, facilities, staff, location and plans for 2012 were all taken into account.
And the last of these elements will offer plenty of excitement for those enjoying hospitality packages as the stadium stages Six Nations games in the new year.
Head of sales and marketing for Twickenham Simon Mills described it as an "excellent achievement" for a venue that had not made the top 30 last year.
He added: "It shows the positive impact that we have had on the numerous events held here during the last year."
Fans watching England games may also have a sense of anticipation in the new year as the team starts a new era under a new coach, after Martin Johnson resigned this week.
