Keith Prowse has issued a warning over the mis-selling of corporate hospitality packages at major UK sporting events due to take place in the next few years, with a recent case including false claims being made about the 2017 World Athletics Championships.

This event will take place in London's Olympic stadium in 2017 and some corporates have been cold-called by a company claiming to be the official supplier of hospitality packages for the event.

However, managing director of Keith Prowse Andrew Hodgkins noted: "As yet the official suppliers have not been appointed. Any purported 'corporate hospitality packages' are therefore speculative and should not be purchased under any circumstances."

He added that those offered packages should make sure they only buy from official suppliers, can check with the event organisers that the offer is bona fide and need to be aware of suspicious aspects of deals - such as having to leave the venue for lunch.

London was awarded the 2017 championships by a vote of the International Association of Athletics Federations on November 11th, with a 16-10 vote seeing the city picked ahead of the Qatari capital Doha.
