Wimbledon tickets news: Roger Federer crashes out of Rome Masters
28/04/2010
Roger Federer's shock defeat at the Rome Masters could encourage the Swiss star to work even harder before he appears in front of fans with Wimbledon tickets.
The world number one crashed out in the second round of the Italian event to Latvian youngster Ernests Gulbis, who even had the luxury of squandering six match points on his way to a 2-6, 6-1, 7-5 victory.
While the surprise loss may have hurt the confidence of some players, Federer has pledged to come back stronger in future events, such as the SW19 tournament watched by fans with Wimbledon tickets.
"It's probably good for me - it's a wake-up call," he said after the match. "You have to have losses like that."
British number one Andy Murray, meanwhile, was able to overcome his recent slump in form to record an easy straight-set victory over Andreas Seppi in his first game of the tournament.
The Scot had suffered defeats in each of his three previous matches.
