Wimbledon tickets news: Roger Federer has one eye on SW19 in Rome

27/04/2010

Roger Federer is already thinking about appearing in front of fans with Wimbledon tickets as he competes in the Rome Masters.

The world number one will face off against Ernests Gulbis of Latvia in the Italian tournament today (April 27th 2010), but he revealed he has already begun his preparations for the SW19 event.

Although he will no doubt be eager to win the hard-court event, the Swiss star has said his main priority is to be in good physical condition by the time he plays in matches watched by people with Wimbledon tickets.

"Practice is the key as you get ready for … the long stretch from Rome on to Wimbledon," Federer told the Independent. "I need to be fresh at the end of it at Wimbledon, when I'll hope to be playing in another final."

Earlier this week, Andy Murray revealed he has been working hard in training prior to the Rome Masters and believes he has become mentally stronger as a result.
