World Cup 2010 news: Frank Lampard unaffected by FA Cup penalty miss
18/05/2010
Frank Lampard is not deterred by recent failures to score penalties.
The midfielder told the Sun that he was glad to keep the role for World Cup 2010 and that missed penalties in recent times "wouldn't put me off".
Lampard famously missed against Portugal in 2006 and also failed against Portsmouth in the FA Cup final last weekend, though his team subsequently won the latter game.
"I'm big enough to stand up," he told the paper.
Lampard explained that since Chelsea had won the game against Portsmouth and the Double, that would help him to maintain his confidence when he plays in World Cup 2010.
The midfielder recently told the Guardian about his offer from Internazionale in 2008, which he nearly took.
He added, however, that he had been affected by the recent death of his mother and that had an impact on his decision to decline the offer in the end.
"The loss of my mother marked me," he said.
